Blackjack Code of Conduct and Etiquette

When you play the game of blackjack in a physical casino you get to interact with the dealer and other players. This would definitely mean that the game is also a social affair where people meet and practice some good old table civilities. The rules on etiquette in blackjack may not be exactly written down as a part of a law, but everyone is still expected to follow and practice social grace.

Here are a few rules of etiquette that should be observed on the blackjack table. It is necessary for anyone to observe such code of conduct to ensure that our experience on the blackjack table remains a really pleasant one.

First part of blackjack etiquette we'd like to call your attention to is on the hand signals. There are two types of blackjack games you'll find in a casino. Of course, hand-held blackjack games won't require hand signals since you're holding the cards but hands free blackjack games will require you not to touch the cards and just make hand signals. You should know the correct hand signal for hit, stand, and the other moves in blackjack.

Another rule of etiquette calls for how we deal with our bets. It might be tempting, but remember not to touch your bets once you've already placed them. You might think that it's your own money anyway, but blackjack etiquette calls for something otherwise. The only time you can touch your chips will have to be when you get paid.

Like every other casino game, a game of blackjack has zero tolerance for abusive language. If you want an early exit from the blackjack table and out the casino doors then try throwing a few abusive statements to the dealers.

Another comment or question every blackjack player should avoid is asking your dealer what his hole card is. You may ask the dealer for advice but asking the dealer for the hole card is out of the question.

On another line with the comments we make, we should never tell dealers that they look bored. If in case you don't like the dealer's gloomy attitude then let him deal the cards, then you bet at table minimum, win or lose you may now move off to another blackjack table.

One last rule of etiquette in blackjack is that you shouldn't help the dealer with the cards. You might have good intentions but in the end you'll only slow the dealer down.

Players should obey these rules on blackjack etiquette. It will ensure that your blackjack game will remain pleasant the whole time.
